Visual identity and Packaging Design I Denmark

DANZKA Vodka was established in 1989 in Copenhagen and is today owned by the German company Waldemar Behn GmbH.

In 2016, Jacob Jensen Design was asked to revitalise the DANZKA visual communication to bring it back to its Danish roots.

The new visual identity focuses on the unique and functional aluminum bottle as a classic piece of Danish design. The entire identity is consequently based on creating a simple Nordic atmosphere around the product to highlight its Danish origins.

Simultaneously, DANZKA THE SPIRIT – a new premium vodka was launched. Jacob Jensen Design was behind the new graphic interpretation of the iconic bottle.

DANZKA THE SPIRIT

The idea for DANZKA THE SPIRIT was conceived by Rüdiger Behn and Timothy Jacob Jensen in the beautiful Limfjord surroundings of the Jacob Jensen Design headquarters. DANZKA THE SPIRIT is a pure vodka of 44% vol. It is made using traditional methods for vodka distillation using wheat and naturally filtered water.

To honour the iconic DANZKA aluminium bottle, Jacob Jensen Design took the opportunity to contribute with a new graphic interpretation of the bottle for DANZKA THE SPIRIT. Particular emphasis went on the shape with a matte finish, which also lends the surface a soft texture. The graphics have been minimized and printed in silver, which adds further character to the bottle.

BOOTH DESIGN

In preparation for the launch of the new visual identity and DANZKA THE SPIRIT, Jacob Jensen Design was asked to design a booth that would express the Nordic atmosphere around the product to highlight its Danish origins.

LAUNCH

DANZKA launched its new visual identity and the new premium vodka ‘DANZKA THE SPIRIT' at the Tax Free World Exhibition in Cannes on the 3rd of October 2016.

AWARD-WINNING COMMUNICATION DESIGN: RED DOT AWARD 2017 FOR HIGH DESIGN QUALITY

In 2017, the DANZKA Communication manual designed by Jacob Jensen was awarded the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017 for its high design quality and creative achievement.

The Red Dot Award is organised by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and is one of the world’s largest design competitions. In 1955, a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. In the 1990s, Red Dot CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec developed the name and brand of the award. Ever since, the much-coveted Red Dot award has been the revered international mark of outstanding design quality.
